Paige Buckets vs Juju. The number 4 team in the country will face the 7th team. This Saturday, UConn women’s basketball will take on USC in Storrs, CT.
It’s an Elite Eight replay that everyone will be listening to. The last time these teams met, UConn beat USC, 83-70, led by a double play by PB, who was the Portland 3 Regional MVP. While the Huskies earned the dub, USC’s Watkins also had his own double-doubles and brought similar energy this season with 30- and 40-point performances. Both SLAM cover stars are certified rockstars, too: PB had his Huskies teammates rockin’ his Nike PEs recently while your favorite rappers have been struggling to see the Juju hoop since his days of high school.
However, don’t get it twisted, the Huskies and Trojans aren’t just one-woman teams. They have a whole bunch of shooters and buckets: UConn features fellow SLAM star Azzi Fudd, sophomore Ashlynn Shade and freshman Sarah Strong, currently second on the team in scoring, to name a few. As for USC, transfer Kiki Iriafen is really outstanding averaging 30 points per game, and Kennedy Smith and Rayah Marshall are the most prominent parts of their core while averaging 25 points per game.
