Amazon sparks outrage after cutting key episode of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’

Fans of the Christmas classic “It’s A Wonderful Life” are raving about Amazon’s shortened version of the movie on its streaming service.

The 1946 hit film, which follows the life of businessman and entrepreneur, George Bailey, sparked outrage after Amazon cut a key part.

Amazon’s abridged version does not include what many consider “the most important scene,” known as the “Pottersville scene,” where George wishes he had never been born, prompting his guardian angel to remind him that he needs to find “his angel.” wings.” Angry fans said the scene sets up the entire movie and, without it, the movie just skips between scenes without the full context of the story.

In the original version of the film, George tells his guardian angel, Clarence, that he believes he is better dead than alive, but Clarence explains to George that he does not know everything he has done in his life. He continues to show George what his hometown would be like if it weren’t for all his good deeds over the years. Another reality helps George realize that he has a good life.

However, in the Amazon Prime version of the movie, the details of what led to his changed attitude towards life were left out. Instead, after the angel tells George that he must earn his wings, the scene cuts to George happily running through the streets after realizing the value of his life.

Amazon Prime also offers the full version of the film on its site and the spot may have been removed due to a copyright dispute over the scene, which was based on a short story, the Daily Mail reported. But, fans of the movie were still not happy about the plot.

“I just watched It’s a Wonderful Life -Abridged Edition with my mom who didn’t remember the whole movie. It’s disgusting,” said one X user. “The whole point of the story was for George to see a life without him in it. Completely bundling this part of the plot makes the movie pointless.”
