Nesthy Petecio begins to return to the hunting grounds to seek more glory

AT 32 years old and already decorated with Olympic medals, you’d think Nesthy Petecio was already made.

He is not.

A few months after capturing her Paris Games bronze, her second in the quadrennial games after silver in Tokyo, Ms. Petecio made it known that she is far from hanging up her boxing gloves as she returns to the hunting ground in search of more glory.

“I will be there,” Ms. Petecio said Monday shortly after Mitchell Martinez, a member of the national coaching staff, posted photos on social media of the team reporting from training in Baguio.

Mrs. Petecio and all the national pugs are looking for several competitions in the middle and last part of the year.

Interestingly, Ms. Petecio was the first to report on the training of five Filipino pugs competing in the French capital.

According to Association of Boxing Alliances in the Philippines Secretary-General Marcus Manalo, Carlo Paalam will arrive late because he had to deal with his issues while Aira Villegas was at work.

As for Hergie Bacyadan, he is still in Vovinam after winning the Asian Championship gold medal late last year.

“We still have to sit down with him and Vovinam about the plans going forward,” said Mr Manalo A star. “Eumir (Marcial) has not yet decided whether he will return to us fully.”

The country is looking to compete in several tournaments or attend training camps this year including Korea in April, the World Championships in Liverpool in September, the World Cup in New Delhi, India in November and the Southeast Asian Games in Thailand in December.

And expect Ms. Petecio to fight for positions and be a part of it all. – Joey Villar
